Bubinga Wood is an exotic hardwood, wood origin is Chiefly from the Cameroon and Gabon, also from Zaire. The wood is medium red-brown with lighter red to purple veining. The grain is straight or interlocked. In some logs the grain is very irregular and wavy like a waterfall effect.  

Bloodwood is an exotic hardwood, wood origin is from South America.  The heartwood varies from grey-red to deep rich red with a golden luster and variegated yellow and red stripes. The grain varies from straight to shallowly interlocked or irregular.

Birch is a hardwood, wood origin is USA. This wood displays a wide range of color, the sapwood is usually a light yellow with the heart wood being reddish-brown. It is straight, close-grained, with a fine and even texture.    

Beech, European is a hardwood, wood origin is Germany and Throughout Central Europe and UK, also found in West Asia. The heartwood is very pale pink-brown. It is common practice on the continent to steam the timber which turns it to a reddish-brown tone. Some logs have a dark red kern or darker veining. Beech has a straight grain and fine, even texture.  

Hickory is a hardwood, wood origin is S. Eastern Canada and Eastern United States. The heartwood is brown in color or reddish brown and sold as red hickory, and the sapwood sold separately as white hickory. Typically straight grained, but may be wavy or irregular, with a rather coarse texture.   

Ip’e is an exotic hardwood, wood origin is Central and South America and the Caribbean. The heartwood is olive-brown with lighter or darker streaks. The grain is straight to irregular with a low to medium luster. The pores, appearing as fine yellow dots, or, on longitudinal surfaces as yellow lines, contain yellowish lapachol powder which turns deep red in alkaline solutions.  

Jatoba is an exotic wood, also referred to as Brazilian Cherry Wood, wood origin is Brazil. Salmon red to orange-brown marked with dark brown and russet brown streaks. It has a golden luster with the grain commonly interlocked and a medium to coarse texture.  

Jarrah is an exotic hardwood, wood origin is West and South West Australia. The heartwood is a rich dark brownish-red, sometimes marked by short, dark brown radial flecks on the end grain and boat shaped flecks on flat sawed surfaces which enhance its decorative value. The grain is usually straight but often interlocked or wavy.  

Maple hardwood is a specialty wood, wood origin is the USA.  Hard maple can occasionally exhibit a smaller less conspicuous flakes, it has a straight vertical grain.  

Mahogany, American is a hardwood also called Honduras, wood origin is Central and South America. The heartwood colour varies from light to dark reddish-brown to deep, rich red, The Grain is straight to interlocked. Flat sliced or sawed timber shows a prominent growth ring figure.  

Marupa is an exotic med-hardwood, wood origin is South America.  The wood has very little distinction between heart and sap wood with both being whitish to straw colored.   

Makor’e an exotic hardwood, sometimes called African Cherry, wood origin is West Africa. The heartwood colour varies from pink-red to blood red and red-brown. The grain is often straight but many figured logs have a decorative moir’e or watered silk appearance, or a chequered mottle, sometimes with streaks of a darker colour. The surface is lustrous and the texture uniform and fine.  

American Cherry is a hardwood, wood origin are small quantities or scattered trees in deciduous forest areas in Canada and USA. The heartwood varies from rich red to reddish-brown, with a fine, straight, close grain with narrow brown pith flecks and small gum pockets, and with a smooth texture.  

Purpleheart, an exotic hardwood, wood origin is Central America and tropical South America. The heartwood is a deep purple-violet when freshly cut, maturing to a dark purple-brown. Straight grained, but often irregular, wavy, and sometimes interlocked, producing a pleasing striped figured on quartered surfaces.  

American Black Walnut, a hardwood, wood origin is Eastern USA and Ontario, Canada. The heartwood is a rich dark brown to purplish-black, mostly straight grained, but with wavy or curly grain occasionally present.  

American White Oak, wood origin is Eastern USA and South Eastern Canada. Varies in colour from pale yellow-brown to biscuit with a pinkish tint, similar to European oak. Straight grain, with the characteristic silver grain on quartered material.

American Red Oak, wood origin is Eastern Canada and USA. The heartwood resembles other oaks with a biscuit to pink colour, but has a reddish tinge. Mostly straight grained and course textured, with a less attractive figure than white oak due to smaller rays.  

Canary Wood is an exotic hardwood, also referred to as Brazil Wood, wood origin is Brazil. The heartwood color is bright, vivid orange-red and sometimes with yellow-gold streaks, maturing upon exposure to red-brown. It has a variegated stripey to marble-like figure, sometimes accentuated by pin knots. It is usually straight to interlocked grained with a fine, compact, smooth texture with a natural luster.  

Lacewood is an exotic hardwood, also referred as London Plane or French or English Plane. Wood origin is Europe including the UK, S.E. Europe and West Asia. The heartwood is light reddish-brown with very conspicuous and numerous broad rays present on quartered material, which show against the light coloured background as a decorative fleck figure. The wood is straight grained with a fine to medium texture. Some logs are much lighter in color, pale pinkish-brown, with a small, irregular darker color core.  

Goncalo Alves an exotic hardwood, also referred as Zebrawood or Tigerwood, wood origin is Brazil. The timber is reddish-brown in colour, richly mottled and with dark brown streaks and spots similar to rosewood. It has an irregular, interlocked grain, with alternating layers of hard and soft material.

Myrtlewood is a hardwood, also called California Laurel, California Olive, Pacific Myrtle. Wood origin is the NW California Coast, but, mainly from the Oregon Coast, USA. The heartwood colour is rich golden brown to yellowish-green and even grey to chocolate, ranging in hue from light to dark with a large proportion of paler sapwood. It is straight grained, but often with irregular or wavy grain which is smooth, close and compact, with a firm texture and distinct rays. 

Lenge is a hardwood, often referred to as poor mans cherry, wood origin unknown at this time.  This wood is similar to American Cherry wood.  

Lyptus is a hardwood, wood origin is Brazil. This wood is a new hybrid species being grown and harvested in Brazil. It has a similar color and grain pattern to Genuine Mahogany, though the color can vary widely from light to dark.  

Butternut is a hardwood, also called white walnut, wood origin is Canada and USA. The heartwood is medium dark brown in colour but not as dark as black American walnut which it otherwise resembles. It is straight grained with a coarse but soft texture.  

Sapele, also referred as spelli or sapelewood, wood origin is West and East Africa. The heartwood has a medium to dark reddish-brown color, characterized by a well-defined ribbon striped figure on quartered surfaces. Sometimes, when wavy grain is present, a very attractive fiddle back figure, roe figure or occasionally, beautiful mottled figure is obtained. The grain is interlocked or wavy and the texture fairly fine.

Sycamore is a medium-hard specialty wood, wood origin is the UK and USA.  This wood is similar in appearance to rift sawed with a distinctive heavy flake is present that is often referred to as tiger stripe.
